Gallery: ‘Disgrace of Udine’, ‘Courage of Milan’ – Today’s front pages in Italy

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan clinched three crucial points away at Udinese on Saturday evening. However, the game was tainted by incidents in the stands, more specifically the home end, as racial abuse was directed towards Mike Maignan.

Maignan had told the referee about the situation earlier in the game, with the stadium speaker making an announcement, but the abuse continued. The goalkeeper thus left the pitch shortly thereafter and the game was suspended for five minutes, before it was resumed.

Today’s newspapers in Italy highlighted the incidents on the front pages, labelling them as the ‘disgrace of Udine’. Milan’s desire to fight back and clinch all three points was also praised, as you would expect.

The headlines

🤬 Gazzetta dello Sport: “The disgrace of Udine. Racist chants, Maignan leaves the pitch.
