Gallery: ‘Golivier’, ‘Incredible ending for Milan’ – today’s front pages in Italy

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan clinched three very important points in their game against Genoa last night and Olivier Giroud was the big hero. The Frenchman, following Mike Maignan’s red card, was forced to finish the game in goal.

It was certainly a crazy ending to an otherwise dull affair. Christian Pulisic gave Milan the lead in the 87th minute and deep into added time, Maignan was sent off. The following free-kick hit the bar (after a deflection) and Giroud was then forced to a couple of interventions.

On the front page, Gazzetta Dello Sport wrote the following: “Crazy Milan. Giroud’s save puts the Rossoneri alone at the top. Incredible ending to the Genoa clash: Pulisic goal, Maignan red card and Giroud in goal.”

Corriere Dello Sport: “GOLIVER. Pulisic scores and Giroud saves, Milan jump at the top. Pioli wins at Marassi and sends a -2 to Inter.”

Tuttosport: “Pulisic, goal and controversy. Milan in first place.” Crazy ending: Maignan sent off, Giroud in goal!”
