Gasperini admits Milan ‘deserve the Scudetto’ and reveals what changed the game

By Isak Möller -

Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta were deservedly beaten by AC Milan this evening as the Rossoneri were the better side over 90 minutes. The manager admitted this in his post-match interview.

Rafael Leao opened the scoring in the second half and Theo Hernandez then followed that up with a fantastic solo-run goal. The latter is what decided and changed the game, according to Gasperini, who spoke to DAZN (via MilanNews).

On the match…

“Milan deserve the Scudetto. We had a good match, we stayed in the game until Theo scored. I liked Atalanta, Milan struggled to find a shot on target. We lost a bit in the final third, but I’m satisfied with the performance.”

On the subs…

“In these matches, the subs can be decisive. The pace was high, it was also very hot. In the end, the freshness could be decisive, both teams thought the same thing.”

Milan now need just one point from the game against Sassuolo to clinch the Scudetto. They might not even need that, depending on the results of Inter against Cagliari (later tonight) and Sampdoria (next weekend).

It’s clear, however, that the Rossoneri have done tremendously well this season and really deserve – as Gasperini pointed out – to go all the way. It would be a special moment indeed and hopefully, it will come.
