Gennaro Gattuso has confirmed his ‘painful’ decision to step down as AC Milan coach.
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Gattuso will leave the Rossoneri ahead of next season, just like Leonardo.
The news broke on Monday evening, after Rino met with CEO Ivan Gazidis to discuss plans for the future, and the decision was confirmed.
“Deciding to leave the Milan bench is not easy. But it’s a decision I had to make. Mine is a painful but thoughtful choice,” Gattuso told La Repubblica.
“Do I renounce two years of contract? Yes, because my history with ACcan never be a matter of money.”

Reports have suggested that Sampdoria boss Marco Giampaolo has been contacted over the vacancy, while Leonardo Jardim and Simone Inzaghi are also apparently being considered.
