Today Krzysztof Piatek was presented at Milanello. AC Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis spoke to the press in the press conference and reflected on the operation.
“I am happy to introduce our new player, this is another long-term investment of the club, always in compliance with Financial Fair Play. I want to thank Leonardo and Maldini for the great job they did in the summer and are doing now. Piatek is a player we wanted at our club: young and talented,” he said.
“We have to respect what is imposed on us by UEFA. Piatek falls within our parameters, he is the type of player we want in our team, we already have a lot of young players in the team, we want to qualify to the Champions League.
“For me, being here is really special. Milanello is a legendary place. The last few years have not been easy but we have to bring Milan back up. I am very excited to be here, I work with great professionals. It is really incredible. I’m optimistic.
“We have to reconstruct our football club which has been making losses. We have to dream, with a plan. A dream without a plan is a fantasy.
“It will not be easy, we have a lot of obstacles to overcome and respect UEFA limitations but the ownership is strongly committed to bringing Milan back to the top. I am happy to be part of this project, it is a great honour.
“I spend a lot of time in my role with a lot of governing bodies. I know these people and we respect each other. We await the outcome of our appeal. This club cannot operate in a fantasy world and it has to return to a financial reality on top of which we can build a strong foundation in a sustainable way that our fans can be proud of us even more,” Gazidis concluded.
