GdS: Camarda and Zeroli forgo holiday to join Milan squad in USA

By Oliver Fisher -

After the first friendly on American soil, a 3-2 win against Manchester City, there are several movements in the AC Milan squad that have taken place.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport report this morning, the first to say goodbye are Daniel Maldini and Lorenzo Colombo who have returned to Italy. The former will join Monza on a permanent basis, the latter will go on loan to Empoli.

The reverse route was taken by Noah Okafor whose post-Euros vacation is over, and above all Francesco Camarda and Kevin Zeroli who will join the preseason retreat in New York today.

This is a huge opportunity for Camarda and Zeroli, who are certainly the symbolic players of the youth sector at the moment and are clearly two talents that Paulo Fonseca wants to take a closer look at.

The former is one of the most talked about 16-year-olds in football given his immense goal scoring record and he is expected to be the starting striker for Milan Futuro in Serie C next season.

Both Camarda and Zeroli have given up their post-Under 19 European holidays to head for the United States and to train with the first team, potentially even getting some minutes against Real Madrid and/or Barcelona.

The Portuguese coach has already given opportunities to some youngsters in the first two friendlies, with Mattia Liberali and Lorenzo Torriani standing out for their performances.

    1. Hopefully both will pop into the first team from time to time but be predominantly Furturo based. The legendary managers like Ferguson and Pep have done this with the lies of Giggs, Scholes, Foden….

  1. Hope they get a holiday at the start of the season – just have to look at how many of Barcelona’s young stars have broken down injured in the last few years to see that the youngsters need rest time and management too.
