GdS: Cardinale eyes role for Ibrahimovic at RedBird – what it means for Milan

By Isak Möller -

Gerry Cardinale had a long meeting with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Milano last night and it was a positive one for both parties. As per a report, the Swede could get a role within RedBird, working not just with AC Milan but also other projects.

Ibrahimovic has been linked with a return to Milan ever since he retired at the end of last season. Naturally, the rumours have intensified in the last few weeks, as the Rossoneri haven’t been doing so well on the pitch.

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see image below), Cardinale and Ibrahimovic discussed a slightly different role during their two-hour meeting. Instead of one within the Milan organisation, he could be appointed by RedBird, the company that owns the Rossoneri.

Milan would still be his main focus, rest assured, but he would also be involved in other projects within the sports, media and entertainment sectors. He would follow the example of Lebron James, who even is a passive investor in Milan through his shares in Main Street Advisors. He has also worked closely with RedBird on many other projects.

This was the second meeting between Cardinale and Ibrahimovic, and it won’t be the last one. It will take a bit more time to get all of the details in place, but the feeling is that both parties are eager to find a good solution.
