AC Milan came away with just one point from their clash against Fiorentina last night, and they remain at serious risk of missing out on European football through the league.
As highlighted by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below), the Rossoneri fought their way back once again, turning 0-2 to 2-2 underneath the San Siro floodlights. However, it was a draw that didn’t help either side too much.
Milan need the win to approach the European positions again, while Fiorentina could have put pressure on Lazio and Roma. In short, while it was an entertaining game with end-to-end stuff, the outcome didn’t benefit anyone.
Fiorentina dominate the play
If we only look at how the game was played, there is no doubt about the fact that Fiorentina were a lot better. They put fantastic football on display, especially with their counter-attacks, but there are also no teams like Milan when it comes to character.
Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic made sure the final result was 2-2, in a game which easily could have finished 5-5, and that is no exaggeration. In the second half, all defensive rules and principles were thrown out the window as the game was played from one goal to the other.
There were about 15 good opportunities to score, both teams combined, and it forced Mike Maignan as well as David De Gea to make some very good stops. Beyond the disappointment related to the standings, it’s impossible not to have fun with games like this.
Milan fight back again
In all of the aforementioned actions, Fiorentina were vertical, aggressive, organised while Milan were confused, slow and disorganised. La Viola also knew how to manage the game when need, unlike the Rossoneri who were frenetic, often losing the ball.
However, Sergio Conceicao’s men never gave up. You almost suspect that the first tactical move is to go down by a couple of goals, because it seems the Rossoneri are only good at recovering, in cycling they would be great climbers, but they have no idea what a descent is.
The manager realised his mistake with Yunus Musah, bringing on Jovic (our MOTM for the game) as an attacking midfielder of sorts, with Christian Pulisic moving to the right. Abramam and the Serbian made sure to pull Milan back into the game, but a winner was never found.
As said, the draw may have been entertaining for the neutral spectators but as far as the involved teams go, it was pretty useless. Milan because they, once again, failed to play from the first minute and Fiorentina because they squandered a great lead.

As I sit hear and watch sky sports epl fan boys concede defeat to Spain when it comes to who’s the best and where the best want to go could have told them that 15 +years ago but hay ho can’t help but wonder if Italian football had kept going if the tables were turned?
Ac milan inter milan Juventus Roma Lazio Sampdoria Napoli Atalanta are these not marketing teams who people know?
Would these teams if they came calling get world class players /coaching staff /directors ect?
Do we REALLY BELIEVE it’s so difficult for BILLIONAIRES to get new stadiums constructed bear in mild the fact BILLIONAIRES in the REAL WORLD don’t take no for an answer?
Do we really believe these people when investing in Italian football didn’t know about OBSTACLES both home and ABROAD?
So people always says that Milan now makes money and that we are the envy of others OK so we make money dispite the fact we are a DISGRACE AND AN EMBARRASSMENT To Italian football and the world of football.
But I can’t help but wonder how much more money we’d make being successful having world class players coaching ect.
Football is a SPORT AND SPORT IS ABOUT WINNING IT’S ABOUT RISK AND REWARD not financial stability never has been and never will be while we and the rest of Italian football sit there and do nothing England Spain Germany and Paris will continue to SPEND HUGE AMOUNTS WHICH GUESS WHAT THEY AIN’T GOT.

Inter / Milan under moratti and berlusconi already have idea to build new stadium but the Italian bureaucracy make it hard to find solutions. I thinks only Juventus have their own stadium 🏟️.
Milan character was very good under conceicao but the players must be suited with his component / conceicao choices.
