GdS: Denials arrive from Elliott over Rangnick – the man Maldini and Boban want

By Oliver Fisher -

Yet more denials have arrived from inside AC Milan regarding the possibility of hiring Ralf Rangnick this summer, according to a report.

On Wednesday, French outlet L’Equipe claimed that Rangnick has in fact already signed a deal with the Rossoneri and that there would be a big financial party if the club went back on it, while SportBild journalist Christian Falk believes that the German will join.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport on Thursday though – as cited by MilanNews – the only man who could have signed such a contract is Ivan Gazidis, but from the Elliott fund the denial has already arrived: no document has been signed by the club.

The name of Rangnick will continue to circulate though, and it cannot be excluded that he may actually land at Milanello next summer as both head coach and sports director.

Despite this, the former Leipzig coach’s candidacy is not one endorsed by Paolo Maldini and Zvonomir Boban. Instead, should Pioli fail impress enough between now and the end of the season, the directors would like a proven coach who knows Serie A, with Max Allegri the ideal man at present.
