GdS: Giroud magic earns Milan three crucial points in Scudetto race

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan clinched three crucial points in their game against Spezia last night, but it wasn’t an easy win for the Rossoneri. In fact, Olivier Giroud came off the bench and scored the winner in the 89th minute.

As highlighted by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), it was a game that in many ways offered us everything: woodwork twice (for Milan), a red card, a big brawl, a five-minute VAR check and a very high tempo.

In the end, it was Olivier Giroud that stepped up after Daniel Maldini stunned San Siro with a very nice finish into the bottom right corner. It was a piece of magic from the Frenchman as he somehow managed to hit it with his left foot, rather than the head.

For Milan, these were three crucial points in the Scudetto race as Napoli are now six points ahead. Nine would have been a lot, even if the season is still very long and won’t be decided until the second half.
