GdS: Ibrahimovic, Donnarumma and Rebic could leave as Gazidis plots new salary cap

By Oliver Fisher -

The revolution that the Rossoneri are set to undergo this summer risks having repercussions on some AC Milan players too, according to a report.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport are noting in their Tuesday edition (via MilanNews), it is still too early to understand what will happen, but it is clear that the goodbyes of Boban and Maldini will also have consequences on the already uncertain future of some elements of the Milan team, such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Ante Rebic.

Starting with the Swede, CEO Ivan Gazidis could convince him to remain by entrusting him with the role of icon on the field and point of reference from which the new revolution will start, but Ibrahimovic has some concerns.

It will of course be necessary to understand if the farewells of Maldini and Boban do happen, given that they were the ones who wanted him strongly in January.

Meanwhile, the renewal of Gianluigi Donnarumma was already complicated, but now the situation could become even more complex. The salary of the young goalkeeper is almost double the cap that the club wishes to impose, which in the next season could further decrease to around €2m max. It is clear that the extension of Donnarumma will not be easy at all.

Attention should also be given to the situation regarding the future of Ante Rebic, who is on dry loan to Milan until June 2021 with no purchase option.

If an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt has been found, the player will have to be persuaded to accept a lower salary (he currently earns €3m-a-year).
