GdS: Ibrahimovic’s surgery doesn’t change Milan’s strategy as things stand

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic decided to opt for surgery after the conservative therapy didn’t give the desired results. Now, the Swede is starting a recovery process that should get him back in time for the Serie A opener.

The 39-year-old will do his best to be back in full swing come August but of course, there are no certainties. For now, though, the Rossoneri’s mercato strategy won’t change as a result of the surgery, per Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews).

Olivier Giroud remains the priority for the attack, as he shares similar characteristics with Ibrahimovic, and he can be more than just an alternative. There have been reports about Milan potentially signing one more striker, but it’s not the priority.

Having said that, if Ibrahimovic’s return to the pitch is delayed further, then Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara could change their minds about the situation. The coming weeks will thus provide us with more information on the matter.
