GdS: Important trip ahead as Cardinale will attend derby and discuss post-Pioli era

By Isak Möller -

Gerry Cardinale is expected in attendance for the Derby della Madonnina between AC Milan and Inter tomorrow evening. It’s a very special game as the Nerazzurri could clinch the Scudetto, which is something the Rosoneri are looking to prevent.

As reported by today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), Cardinale is expected to attend the game and another disappointment would be far from ideal. He knows what it’s like to celebrate the Scudetto, having been present during the celebrations in 2022, shortly before he took over the club.

Seeing Inter celebrate, therefore, would be the ultimate frustration for the American. Nevertheless, changes are expected this summer and Stefano Pioli should depart. After the game, Cardinale will sit down with Giorgio Furlani, Geoffrey Moncada and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to discuss just that.

Cardinale will have the final word, but he trusts his management a lot and will hear them out. Opting against hiring Damien Comolli attests to that, so there will be no ‘clashes’ in the decision-making. Instead, the management will weigh the pros and cons of all options and make an informed decision.

In short, the upcoming trip to Milano will be a very important one for Cardinale and Milan, as the path for next season could be decided.
