GdS: Inter want to resolve Spalletti’s contract issue so he can join Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

The cost of hiring Luciano Spalletti to replace Marco Giampaolo as head coach at AC Milan has reportedly been revealed.

Giampaolo’s job is more and more at risk as the hours go on it seems, with the ex-Sampdoria boss set to pay the price for a poor start to the season.

Milan scraped past a struggling Genoa side on Saturday to end a run of three straight defeats, having lost four out of six to start a season for the first time since 1938.

Widespread reports have claimed that Spalletti is the frontrunner to take his place, though he is still contracted to former club Inter until 2021.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport – as cited by Calciomercato.com – the Nerazzurri are happy to try and resolve his contract, which would free him to join another club.

The paper reports that Inter would save around €15million if he chose to end the contract early, to which staff fees would also be added.

It is described as ‘a great saving for those who have already taken another road’ in Antonio Conte.
