GdS: De Ketelaere or Zaniolo – Milan keen on signing ‘wildcard’ this summer

By Isak Möller -

The takeover of RedBird Capital, which was announced earlier this week, hasn’t changed much in terms of AC Milan’s transfer strategy. Indeed, the vision is still to build a young team, hence their targets for the right-wing role.

Charles De Ketelaere and Nicolo Zaniolo are the players in question, linked quite heavily with Milan in the last week or so. Both are young and have the future ahead of them, but there is also a common denominator: the hefty price tag.

As reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport this morning, Milan have to choose between the two this summer. Zaniolo has a price tag of €65m and Rome don’t intend to drop below that, requesting just cash. The Rossoneri, on the other hand, are willing to offer €25m plus a technical counterpart.

Alexis Saelemaekers has already been offered to the Olimpico side but they rejected the proposal. Another potential counterpart is Ante Rebic, who might be a bit more appealing to Jose Mourinho.

As for De Ketelaere, the road seems to be a bit smoother. Club Brugge have slapped a €40m price tag on the versatile attacking midfielder and while that is still a bit high, Milan could lower it by including Noa Lang in the deal. A large package deal, in other words, generating discounts on both players.

  1. This is no brain choice. Just take package CDK and noa Lang , it is more cheaper than rome asking price for zaniolo
