GdS: Maldini handed green light to look into €15m signing of Sassuolo winger

In addition to a striker, AC Milan also want to bring in a right-winger this summer as the current ones have been underwhelming this season. Domenico Berardi could become a concrete option, a report claims.

The Rossoneri currently have Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias on the right flank. Both of them have failed to impress the management this season and the latter could even return to Crotone at the end of his loan.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Milan are evaluating the signing of Berardi from Sassuolo as Stefano Pioli has asked for him since last summer. The difference is that Paolo Maldini has been handed the green light to investigate the matter this time out.

Milan are willing to pay €15m for the 28-year-old’s services and while that is low, they are hoping that an outright deal could be enough to get Sassuolo to accept it. Berardi, meanwhile, knows that this could be the summer to make the big leap in his career.

The Rossoneri might have to come up a little bit to even have a chance, but an agreement cannot be ruled out in the end.

  1. Let him go to Napoli. I noticed how he’s worth went from €30m to €15m. After he made Italy lose a spot in the WC. He’ll shine in Napoli.

Get Fabio Carvalho €FREE or Ibrahim Sarr €35m

    1. Obviously we don’t have 35m to spend on a RW. That’s why the article doesn’t say “Maldini given green light to spend 30m on Berardi”, as this is his market value, as you noted. And how cares how he performs with Italy. AC Milan is a club, not the national team. His stats are great at club level. Just like Lazio doesn’t care that Immobile doesn’t perform with the national team.

  2. Cmon €15mn is a steal. If the price is low because of Italys surprise elimination, that makes it an opportunity for us. I see that Milan fans have mixed opinions on him but his serie A numbers are consistently good, its an affordable price, he’s Italian and even the biggest hater would surely admit he’s an enormous upgrade on our current RW position.

Any money we save in the budget by signing him can be spent elsewhere in the squad. Honestly anything less than €20mn is a no brainer to me, and I’m no Berardi fan, it’s just sensible business.

  3. Just forget him. Sassoulo asking price are 35m euro-40m euro. With just 15m euro that sassoulo Will mocking and laugh at Maldini. Better find another quality RW that are not over price. No club’ in Europe Will stupid pay sassoulo asking price 35m euro for berardi
