GdS: Mandzukic eager to play with his renewal at stake – when he will be back

By Isak Möller -

Milan brought in Mario Mandzukic on a free transfer in January to cover for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has struggled with a few injuries this season. However, the Croatian managed to get injured as well.

Thus far, it has been a disastrous investment by the Rossoneri as the No.9 has amassed just 158 minutes on the pitch and no goals. And for the player himself, the season finale will be absolutely crucial for his future.

As reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), Mandzukic will not be making his return for the game against Sampdoria tomorrow morning. Instead, he should be at Stefano Pioli’s disposal for next weekend’s clash against Parma.

There is a one-year renewal option in the striker’s contract but as it turns out, it’s not automatic in the event of Champions League qualification. Therefore, the former Juventus man will indeed have to fight hard to prove himself in the season finale.
