GdS: Milan could accelerate Atalanta man’s arrival as Maignan will miss Salernitana clash

By Isak Möller -

Mike Maignan is currently working hard to recover from his calf injury but the whole process is going a bit slower than AC Milan expected. Therefore, they could be forced to take action during the January window.

The Frenchman was expected to be back for Milan’s clash against Salernitana on January 4, but he’s now expected to miss that as per Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews). This was also more or less confirmed by Stefano Pioli in an interview with the newspaper (read more).

Milan will make a decision on the matter in the next 10-15 days. If it’s just the Salernitana clash that Maignan will miss, then the Rossoneri might not intervene in the January market, thus giving Ciprian Tatarusanu the chance again.

Marco Sportiello has already agreed to join Milan but the agreement is only from the summer and onwards. If Maignan’s recovery was to go south, therefore, then Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara could sit down with Atalanta to get Sportiello earlier.
