GdS: Milan will address Maignan extension at the end of the mercato

By Ben Dixon -

Mike Maignan is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and right now, his position at AC Milan is insecure, with his contract expiring in the summer of 2026.

The mercato is difficult to prepare for, especially when you must consider future moves as well, and this is the case for Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez – both players have contracts that expire in two seasons’ time.

Whilst this may not seem a pressing issue, this is the summer where their value is highest because next summer, clubs will only have to wait six months until both players are available on a pre-contract manner.

A report broke this morning that Theo is in line to get a contract like Rafael Leao’s, but it will not arrive until the end of the mercato, and the same will apply to Maignan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News).

There is no intention of letting the goalkeeper go, and he is set to be a ‘pillar’ of Paulo Fonseca’s Rossoneri side. However, there is interest in the shot-stopper, which could cause concern, especially if they are more willing to offer the requested figures.

Reports recently suggested that the Frenchman was more inclined to stay, though, which bodes well for both parties.
