GdS: Milan defender has asked to be sold as offer arrives from Serie A club

By Isak Möller -

Although Milan intend to sign a centre-back in January, they need to offload at least one of their current ones. Counting the injured players as well, Stefano Pioli has six centre-backs at his disposal.

Mateo Musacchio is one of them, having struggled with a serious injury before football resumed in the post-lockdown period. He has recovered now, but it’s clear that he isn’t on the same level as his competitors anymore.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), therefore, he has asked the club to sell him during the January transfer window. Genoa have already expressed their interest and have made a contract offer for the player.

However, more suitors could appear in the coming weeks and it remains to be seen if Milan will get any money for Musacchio. His contract will expire in the summer and it seems the Rossoneri are happy just to get rid of his wages.
