GdS: Milan didn’t take Ibrahimovic’s hefty counter-offer well – pause for reflection

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract renewal at Milan seemed almost done just a few days ago, but now the negotiations have hit a roadblock. In fact, the parties are yet to reach an agreement on the matter, a report claims.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews.it), the Swede rejected Milan’s offer and decided to send a counter-offer: he wants the fixed part of his salary to be €7.5m, perhaps including some bonuses, compared to the €5m that was offered.

Milan didn’t take the counter-offer very well, but the negotiations with the agent Mino Raiola continue. It wouldn’t be a  surprise if the parties decide to come together, perhaps with a figure in the middle (€6m plus bonuses?).

The negotiations were temporarily interrupted, but there’s no need to talk about a total break. If anything, it’s more accurate to think of a pause for reflection. Because, despite the hitch, Ibrahimovic and Milan want to continue together, per the newspaper.
