Hakan Calhanoglu continues to impress, having been able to perform at a very high level in every game since the league was resumed. He has become a point of reference for Stefani Pioli, a player you can’t replace.
As highlighted by today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews.it), the Turk could have become a tactical misunderstanding. Instead, he managed to evolve. Of course, Pioli deserves a lot of credit for finding his best role tactically.
The quality was there (it always has been), only the continuity was missing, which Hakan seems to have found in recent months. Playing as a trequartista again has perhaps helped him, but the important thing is that he’s scoring and assisting like crazy.
Calhanoglu’s contract will expire in 2021 and the Rossoneri are keen on renewing his current deal. His price tag is set at €25m and would probably have been higher if it wasn’t for the contract length.
That being said, although there are some interested clubs in Germany, Milan have no intention of parting ways with their star.
