GdS: Milan player ratings for Monza win – only one flop as several players shine

It was a good evening for AC Milan at San Siro last night, beating Monza by four goals to one in front of their fantastic fans. Several players did really well but there was also one flop, as a report highlights.

The Rossoneri claimed three important points in the Scudetto race and also got a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the deciding Champions League clashes. Brahim Diaz was the big hero with a brace, followed by goals from Divock Origi and Rafael Leao.

Gazzetta Dello Sport has taken stock of the individual performances and several AC Milan players were praised (via SempreMilan). Diaz was the man of the match, to no one’s surprise, with a rating of 8/10.

The Spaniard was followed by Theo Hernandez, Ismael Bennacer, Junior Messias, Divock Origi and Rafael Leao, who all got a 7/10. They were all instrumental in getting Milan the three points.

Ciprian Tatarusanu, Sergino Dest, Fikayo Tomori, Tommaso Pobega and Pierre Kalulu fell just short of the big praise at 6.5. Simon Kjaer, who made his return from injury, just about did enough to get a pass at 6 (same rating for Gabbia).

Ante Rebic was a bit disappointing as he committed too many errors, per the newspaper, and thus got a rating of 5.5. The big flop, however, was Charles De Ketelaere at 5 as he completely failed to impose himself.

    1. On paper he might be. But one the Pioli kind of game, he might not. Messias often helps out on defence, doing ‘dirty’ job. The way Pioli like to. Just read / watch the post interview when he said all the compliments to Messias.

      1. Omg look how tonali, kessie, bennacer, leao have played in their first season and how they play now. They need time. This game style we play at milan its not so easy to see and much more harder to play with all this one time attacking options, one time is Theo going up and someone else needs to cover, one time calabria/kalulu goes and the other one covers and even when we dont have the ball with our high pressing its not easy to see who will start the attack. Have patience and see how they play now and next year. I mean we all saw glimpses of talent on all of our new players, they need consistency and time to adapt.

    1. So wrong written…even playing so ineffective as of today it is so clear and obvious he possess much more talent and potential than anybody in our current squad😉

  1. It’s a harsh rating for CDK… this kid is talented and it’s clear to see! He is shy and we need to give him time to get out of his shell…
I wonder why some Milan fans are still taking Messias as a flop!! That guy is a hard working winger and he attacks as much as he defend and its because of his dirty work and Saelemakers dirty work that gives Leao the go ahead not to waste his energy on defending and focusing on attacking!
A lot of people here needs to learn how REAL Football works… they need to know what is tactics and how do you implement it in games and how to identify different tactics a coach is using in games and his philosophy of the game! It’s clear that some of us never played football and it’s them who is always finding faults in players without knowing what the coach is asking the player to execute on the field….
