GdS: Milan reject Chelsea outcast; consider Real Madrid man as Ibrahimovic alternative

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have identified a potential alternative to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a report claims, but have said no to the idea of signing one striker.

The Rossoneri have seemingly made Ibrahimovic their primary target for the January window, with the 38-year-old now a free agent having left previous club LA Galaxy.

However, Paolo Maldini admitted ahead of Sunday’s game against Sassuolo that the situation is becoming more difficult as time passes, suggesting that alternatives may have to be looked at.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport – as cited by MilanNews.it – the idea of seeing Ibrahimovic back at Milan is one that is becoming harder as each day goes by.

The paper adds that in recent weeks there had also been talk of potentially going for Olivier Giroud of Chelsea, but he is a profile that does not fit into the guidelines of the club’s owners Elliott Management.

However, Mariano Diaz is a name that they could look at. The Dominican international has not played a competitive game for Real Madrid this season, despite Los Blancos having paid €23m to re-sign him from Lyon last year (as per Wikipedia).
