GdS: Milan to enter ‘phase two’ with Leao and Rebic up front – the situation

By Isak Möller -

There are no certainties yet, but in the last few hours, the hypothesis of resuming the season in late May with the Coppa Italia clashes has gathered steam. In other words, Milan would face Juventus first.

For that game, however, several important players will be suspended: Samu Castillejo, Theo Hernandez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Without the latter, the attacking duo will most likely be composed by Rafael Leao and Ante Rebic.

As Gazzetta Dello Sport states this morning (via MilanNews.it), it wouldn’t be the first time that the two have partnered up, having done so in the game against Hellas Verona – Rebic on the wing and Leao as the centre-forward.

That time, the experiment wasn’t too successful, unfortunately. It must be said, however, that it was the first time that the two played together under the guidance of Stefano Pioli. And since then, a lot has happened.

At the Allianz Stadium, therefore, the could be the first taste of the future for Milan. As Ibrahimovic’s future is yet to be decided, the Leao-Rebic duo could be used a lot more come next season.

Both for the present and the future, the Rossoneri are ready to enter ‘phase two’ with the duo for the attack.
