GdS: Origi and Rebic cost Milan €2m per goal – both are available for transfer

By Oliver Fisher -

Ante Rebic and Divock Origi both seem to be coming to the end of their time as AC Milan players, and they have each had a season to forget.

La Gazzetta dello Sport writes how Rebic has a contract until 2025 which he signed after joining permanently from Eintracht Frankfurt, while Origi’s deal which he penned last summer runs until 2026.

Both have had their campaigns marred by physical problems, but not to the extent that it justifies the almost total absence in their contribution to the team. Combined they earn €7.5m in net annual salary while in gross, thanks to the Growth decree, Rebic’s salary costs the club €4.7m and Origi’s is €5.2m.

The Croatian winger has amassed 1,233 minutes and the Belgian striker 1,188, with three and two goals respectively. It means that each goal cost Milan around €2m.

Rebic throughout his spell at Milan has repeatedly been decisively useful to the cause, while Origi could and should have been thanks to his experience at a top club like Liverpool, having won the Premier League and Champions League.

The two are instead up for sale and Origi shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a club willing to welcome him, even if his salary isn’t exactly a help.

Rebic went even left out of the squad for the match against Juve on Sunday via technical choice meaning he did not have an injury, amid talk he was not training with the necessary intensity.

  1. I doubt they are ‘coming to the end of their time as Milan players’ for the exact reason mentioned; no-one will take on those salaries in full on their current form. And why would they move otherwise? Might well be limited to only being able to loan them out with a club picking up a portion of the costs, maybe with a clause they have to buy in certain circumstances. There won’t be that many suitors for Origi in Enlgland left I don’t think.

    1. Lets just hope both have suitor . It is nightmare for AC Milan if keep them together in bench. Even if both can only get total transfer fee 10m euro it is worth

    2. Serie A can’t be compared to any other league, and vice versa. Rebic maybe can play some role in bundesliga. Same applies for Origi in Premier League.

Now, only difference is how Milan is possible to find clubs for them and for what price.
