GdS: Pellegrino ready for first team return but LaLiga leaders show interest

By Oliver Fisher -

It has been a tough start to life at AC Milan for Marco Pellegrino, but he is back from his injury and should travel with the team for the Udinese game this weekend.

Pellegrino been sidelined due to injury since 29 October, when he suffered a compound fracture of the calcaneal bone of his left foot during his debut for the club in the 2-2 draw away against Napoli.

The Argentine returned to the field on Saturday as he played 80 minutes against Torino for the Primavera side in their 1-1 draw at home, which was another step forward in his recovery.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) reports that the Argentine defender will be available for Milan’s away game against Udinese on Saturday, but he will start from the bench.

It is anticipated that Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia will be the two starters at centre-back given the pair performed well against Roma in the 3-1 win last weekend.

Despite having played little, the paper adds that Pellegrino attracted the attention of Girona, a club currently at the top of the LaLiga (although Real Madrid do have a game in hand). For the moment there is still no concrete negotiation, only an expression of interest.

  1. I hope this ends, for now, the obsession with a new cb, we have gabbia, kjaer, simic and pellegrino, plus terra and Theo can cover, let’s save the money for a good cdm and striker (in the summer)
