GdS: Pioli hoping to welcome back crucial forward duo over the international break

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli’s target for this October international break is to recover two strikers in time for the resumption of Serie A action.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Pioli wants to welcome Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud back into the fold as soon as possible, both of whom have missed recent games due to physical problems.

The Swede has had an inflammation of the Achilles tendon, while the Frenchman is getting rid of back pain, with the fortnight over the international break a great opportunity for them to get back to fitness at Milanello.

The duo have scored over 700 goals combined at club level and they have won virtually every trophy there is to win, meaning they will be important and experiences resources for Pioli moving forward.

Ibra has not yet started working with a ball again and therefore his recovery seems to proceed more slowly. Hellas Verona await next, and though it must be said Milan did not suffer too much from their absence from a results point of view, having both back will be a huge boost.
