GdS: Pioli to name unchanged XI for Milan’s encounter with Verona

By Isak Möller -

Contrary to previous reports, Stefano Pioli won’t be making any changes to the starting XI for AC Milan’s game against Hellas Verona tomorrow evening. Consistency is what he has opted for, in other words.

During the week, some sources have suggested that Junior Messias and/or Ante Rebic could get the chance from start against Verona. However, as per Gazzetta Dello Sport, the XI won’t change from the 2-0 defeat against Chelsea.

This means that Olivier Giroud will keep his spot up front, while Brahim Diaz will be the ‘makeshift’ right-winger. The latter actually did well against Chelsea (subbed off after the red card), but the striker’s performance was criticised.

In any case, Pioli wants his side to bounce back with a strong performance and keep up with Napoli. The Partenopei will play just before Milan’s clash and the outcome of that will be interesting to follow.

Probable Milan XI (4-3-3): Tatarusanu; Kalulu, Gabbia, Tomori, Hernandez; Krunic, Bennacer, Tonali; Diaz, Giroud, Leao.

  1. They would attack you of what you know about football for questioning the decisions of the scudetto winning coach, you would be asked if you saw their trainings & they would support the decision that some players don’t fit in or are not ready for Serie a (like it’s a space league & other leagues are on earth, so it takes rocket science to play in it), they even support his sticking to only one formation when obviosly we have suited players missing with fatigue or injuries.
I hear maldini loves to buy Okoli (CB) the kid started playing this season, we’ve had Gabbia & now Thiaw & “they are not ready yet”, Adli is “not strong enough”, etc,
Giroud & lots of others deserve to rest, it would do them & the team good, we played Empoli with players that weren’t ready (fatigued & coming out of injuries) we ended up raking 3 more injuries.
Certain players that were deemed not good enough nor ready have been forced to play when we had no other hope & guess what, they did fine, Ballo, Gabbia,,Kalulu, etc. we don’t have to keep agreeing with coach’s decision of sticking to certain players without infusing others gradually, we need the rotation & we need to give players lots of chances. we have a good team only that they are fatigued & formation needs to be dynamic to accomodate the available players.
Lots of players are condemned without considering they are being played out of position, Krunic/Pobega/Bakayoko/Vranckx/Tonali/Benacer/Adli all flourish in a 3-man midfield bt get criticised for playing in a 2-man DM formation.

  2. We can see it more clearly this season that Pioli is a type of coach that sticks to his winning team, players that have won him Scudetto. On the other hand, it’s not like that Milan give him highly rated / highly transfered players to choose from as well. Instant example is our highest-cost operation like CDK who was pretty instantly introduced to the team although we can see that he’s still not integrated well to Milan’s tactic.

  3. Starting Giroud again??? If there is a time to rest him it’s this game. Poor choice. Start Origi and let’s see if he can do something. Leao should be rested as well and Rebic starting. We have to start playing some of these other players like Poegba, Aster, Adli, Origi, etc…The lads are burnt out. Poor decision IMO to go with same lineup again. Too many games before WC – we are just asking for more injuries like this. We won’t win if we don’t integrate more players. Whoever has the best DEPTH will win the league this year. We have depth we just haven’t used it yet.

  4. Vjerovatno sa najboljom postavom želi doći do brzog vodstva u prvom poluvremenu a onda ubacivat zamjene za ove što igraju stalno !!! Ako je tako ima smisla !

  5. Giroud is the man to lead the line tonight ..
Alongside rafeol leao ,,the two of them combine so Well …Olivier Giroud is the best around than anyone inside the 18 yard area ,his technical ability is second to none , along with that he has awesome strength to hold up the play ,and of course scores some amazing goals…Also a great header of the ball ..can you ask for more than that from a centre forward,I think not .
Tomori had also been in great form ,yes he got sent off against Chelsea which changed the whole match .A penalty, no of course not ,and certainly not a sending off offence ..That’s in the past now..It’s Ac Milan for me and a win against Verona .We are still in the champions leauge ,and we can still qualify..We are in the race for the scuddeto again ,,we have a great manager in pioli …let’s keep believing .

  6. Let hope that we get back the injured player,Milan is facing a lot off injured players player who are fit to play must show that they are ready to play, they must have the chance to prove them selves cdk is a good player he need time to adapt, lets do positive critisism so that Milan will get stronger,no one is perfect poili is giving his best let us give him our support,so for the match against Verona some player need some rest, some must not play the full game they must be replaced in the second half,,.hope that all the injured players get well soon..may the good Lord bless Milan..Milan for ever .wishing you all a good match a win is what I am waiting for..MILAN🙏
