GdS: Probable Milan XI to face Verona – Pioli wants strong finish

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will play their final game of the season on Sunday evening and although they won’t have much to play for, it would be good to finish on a strong note. This appears to be the thinking of Stefano Pioli.

Milan secured Champions League qualification with their 1-0 win over Juventus last weekend and can thus head into Sunday’s clash with a lot less pressure. Third place could be up for grabs, but that depends on Torino-Inter tomorrow.

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SempreMilan), Pioli isn’t expected to make any changes to the starting XI. This means that Charles De Ketelrare won’t get the chance, as was first thought.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Hernandez; Krunic, Tonali; Messias, Diaz, Leao; Giroud.

One can question the decision, but it’s also understandable that the gaffer wants to win with a good win ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. As said, third place could indeed be up for grabs and that would give Milan extra fuel, with the opportunity of finishing above their city rivals.
