GdS: Newly-promoted Genoa want Milan duo on loan – the situation

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan have already parted ways with many players so far this summer and are expected to say goodbye to a few more. Matteo Gabbia and Lorenzo Colombo are both set to leave on loan and could join the same club.

Colombo spent last season on loan at Lecce and impressed the Rossoneri management, among other things scoring the penalty which kept the side in Serie A. He still needs one more season on loan, though, which is what Milan are working on.

Gabbia stayed with the first team this past season but didn’t get much playing time given the competition of Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw, Pierre Kalulu and Simon Kjaer. This time out, therefore, he should be sent out on loan.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), Genoa are interested in both of these players and could secure them both on loan. Il Grifone, who finished second in Serie B this past season and were thus promoted, are coached by the former Milan striker Alberto Gilardino.

  1. From one side loan will help them

From another we have only 4 CB and Kjaer who’s not getting any younger and can get injured any game.
Colombo can be the third choice in case Origi is leaving and good striker is coming.
    Tough one…

  2. Home grown quota ?? Need 4, currently have 3, if we lose these 2 we are struggling unless we promote youth….Surely we need to keep Gabbia in case of injury and promote Colombo to deputise Giroud and keep our quota full ?? Colombo scored 6 goals for a struggling team, that beats Origi and Rebic put together!!!!
