GdS: Pulisic the leader as Milan must revive attacking duo against Fiorentina

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will face Fiorentina at San Siro this evening and it’s a crucial game for the Rossoneri, having struggled as of late. Due to several absences, Stefano Pioli will rely on the backups to get the job done, at least in attack.

It will indeed be a makeshift attacking trio for Milan this evening. Olivier Giroud is serving a two-game suspension, while Rafael Leao and Noah Okafor are injured. The situation is far from ideal, obviously, but now the backups must convince the management.

Chukwueze and Jovic must shine

As highlighted by today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), it’s an attack that includes two enigmas: Samuel Chukwueze and Luka Jovic. Both have been underwhelming so far and have made things difficult for the starters, who haven’t been able to rest.

Chukwueze arrived with high expectations, as the newspaper continues, proving himself as a powerful and dribbling-oriented winger with Villarreal. So far, however, Milan have only seen glimpses of his quality including the assist for Tijjani Reijnders last time out.

On the other hand, Jovic has been even worse. His decline in recent years has been very noticeable and has to be attributed to his attitude. The talent is clearly there, but he arrived at Milan in poor condition and hasn’t recovered properly since.

The Serbian will face his former side tonight and will have to be at his best, not just for himself but also for Milan. The Rossoneri signed him with the hope of disciplining him and bringing him back to the Eintracht Frankfurt levels. For now, Milan have failed, but the trajectory could change tonight.

Christian Pulisic will undoubtedly be the leader in the attack this evening, taking on Fabiano Parisi who will play as a right-back (normally a left-back). Two players who have switched flanks squaring up, in other words, with the only difference being that the American thrives on the left.

  1. Chukwueze will be great, he has the talent and he is trying, it will come. I think it is about a lack of confidence,
he needs a goal to gain it.
Jovic is ridiculous but he doesn’t have to do much, just be one single time from the whole game at the right spot at the right time and a good pass from Chuck or Pulsic and it’s done. I believe he can do that.

    2-1 Milan my guess
