GdS: Tonali could be rested against Empoli – the ideas to replace him

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is thinking about potentially resting Sandro Tonali for Saturday night’s game against Empoli, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) confirms that there is no problem with the physical condition of Tonali despite him being sent home early from the Italian national team training camp, but he may not start the game at the Stadio Carlo Castellani on Saturday night.

Yesterday Tonali carried out the entire training session with the rest of the squad and therefore could well start alongside Ismaël Bennacer in the double pivot, but there are also alternative options to avoid fatigue and risk of any other injuries arising in view of the triptych of matches that awaits the Rossoneri (two against Chelsea in the Champions League either side of Juventus at home).

The main option to replace Tonali if he were to be rested would be Tommaso Pobega, but there is also Aster Vranckx who is climbing the hierarchy.

  1. He must rest both bennacer and tonali and play pobega and vrankcx together and he must also rest giroud and plays Diaz upfront in that way we will be ready for Chelsea because rebic might also make it for the Chelsea game.. we need to try out that qnd also rest Calabria and cdk and plays dest and adli or krunic
