GdS: Tonali will undergo tests tomorrow as Milan fear one-month recovery

By Isak Möller -

Sandro Tonali sustained an injury in AC Milan’s friendly clash against Vicenza last night and it looks like he will miss the season opener. However, whether it will be more than that or not is unclear.

The midfielder walked off the pitch in the 51st minute and Stefano Pioli brought on Rade Krunic in his place. Tonali looked slightly concerned when he walked off and he was clutching his groin, but it’s not necessarily bad news for Milan.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri are hoping that it’s a simple overstretching of the muscle, which could be remedied in a few days. In case there is a tear, however, the recovery could take up to a month.

Medical tests will take place tomorrow to determine the extent of his injury and even if the outcome is positive, Pioli will hardly risk him against Udinese. Therefore, Rade Krunic will start in the midfield tandem, just like we saw in the season opener last term.
