GdS: Two certain signings, two dependant on sales – Milan’s remaining mercato

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan have secured the arrival of Yunus Musah of Valencia and will now move on to the next task on the mercato. The Rossoneri are expected to make at least two more signings before the end of the summer, a report claims.

Musah will be the eighth signing of the summer and Milan have spent around €110m in the process. All thanks to the sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle, of course, and there is still some money left.

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SempreMilan, see photo below), Milan are almost certain to sign a left-back and a centre-back. For the former, Fode Ballo-Toure is close to leaving and two concrete targets appear to be Riccardo Calafiori (Basel) and Rogerio (Sassuolo).

Milan need the left-back to be Italian-trained in order to comply with the squad rules of Serie A and UEFA. The arriving centre-back, on the other hand, will almost certainly be a foreigner.

Two more positions that Milan could fill this summer are a midfield alternative to Rade Krunic and a striker. However, these two operations will depend on the sales and it’s thus not certain that the Rossoneri will be able to reinforce these positions.

  1. With Rebic and Messias departing, and more departures coming I don’t doubt it.

As far as LB, I know we’re in for Calafiori.

  2. Calafiori would be a good LB reserve being italian trained and all. Question is, who is the CB gonna be? Not alot of good ones available on the market for 15-20 mil max

  3. I believe Stephano Pioli should mould Yacine Adli for the role of deeplying playmaker and he should alternate with Krunic till Bennacer recovers as the guy has the ability he just need to be trusted since we can use his immobility, vision and passing range to our advantage and before the turn of the year I believe he would make the role his.

    1. 💯 Right, pioli needs to know how to invent with what he has, rather than dispensing them without proper trial. Well said bro.

  4. I think between RLC, Rein and Musah, we could have done without one of them tbh.

I agree with you on the Adli bit. But it’s Pioli we’re talking about here. Would have been nice to get Ricci and Scalvini. That would have been a statement. And I know all this was made possible because of Tonali sale, but wish he didn’t leave.

Brilliant mercato so far, the only hinderance I see for this team is Pioli unfortunately. Line up De Zerbi just in case.
