GdS: Why Giampaolo does not currently want to use Leao

By Oliver Fisher -

New AC Milan signing Rafael Leao continues to miss out on the action because of one key reason, a report claims.

The Portugal U21 international joined the Rossoneri in the recent summer transfer window, becoming the club’s third signing of the summer in the process after Theo Hernandez and Rade Krunic.

MilanNews.it correspondent Anto Vitiello claimed that the total cost of the operation to sign the striker was €28million, including bonuses.

It was even claimed that Leao impressed Milan’s coaching staff in his early training sessions, but after featuring in the International Champions Cup and off the bench against Udinese, he has not seen another minute of the field.

According to a report on Calciomercato.com – who cite La Gazzetta dello Sport – head coach Marco Giampaolo still considers Leao to be ‘tactically undisciplined’ and as such is not yet willing to throw him into the fold.

However, the former Sporting CP starlet continues to work on the training ground, and in time he is expected to get more opportunities.
