GdS: Probable XIs for Milan’s clash with Inter – Pioli’s plan without Leao

By Euan Burns -

Stefano Pioli has been tasked with trying to create an AC Milan starting eleven for the biggest game of the season that does not include Rafael Leao.

The Portuguese forward suffered an abductor injury against Lazio on Saturday and is a serious doubt for the first leg of this Champions League semi-final against Inter.

He is undergoing tests at Milanello to see if he can be a part of the team or not, but Pioli must assume that he is not. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), the coach is set to put his faith in Alexis Saelemaekers on the left wing.

They believe that Leao will make the bench, and Pioli will stick with Ismael Bennacer in the No.10 role and Brahim Diaz on the bench.

  1. Seems like the best option if Leao can play. Or switch to a 433, move Bennacer back and play Diaz and CDK either side of Giroud.

…but maybe not the bet match for low on confidence CDK.

  2. If we can shut down Brozovic, much is won. I hope Bennacer can make life hard for him in the build up phase to pull him out of the game.
