Giroud admits Milan were ‘not perfect’ and makes goalscoring promise

By Isak Möller -

Olivier Giroud was the big hero for AC Milan this evening as he scored the only goal at San Siro. It was his fourth goal for the Rossoneri in six league appearances, not letting the No.9 curse stop him.

Milan are now at 28 points and, at least until Thursday, in first place as a result of tonight’s win. The last time they started a season this well was back in 1954/55, also with nine wins and one draw, although they ended up losing the 11th game (vs. Roma, actually).

Giroud was a big part in preserving their 100% win record at home, scoring the opener early in the first half. Speaking to DAZN after the game, as cited by MilanNews, he shared his emotions on what has been a good start to his adventure.

Tough game, many duels. Are you satisfied?

“I think we played a good match. Torino are a strong and very aggressive team. I had a lot of battles with Bremer, he’s a great defender. I’m very happy because we did well at the start of the game and after that Toro didn’t have many chances to score. We were very solid in defence. We take the three points which is the most important thing. We play every 3 days, it’s not easy.”

On the united group…

“This is what I like so much about our team. We play at San Siro and we want to make our fans happy with a lot of energy and aggression. Maybe we could have done a little better at times. It wasn’t all perfect but we keep the three points.”

On scoring away from home…

“I want to make the fans happy once again, next time I will do everything to score away.”

Milan will take on Roma at the weekend and we can only hope for a better outcome than in the 1954/55 season, which if so would mean a new record for the Rossoneri.
