Giroud reveals dream for next season and hopes Leao ‘stays for ten years’

Olivier Giroud was the big hero for AC Milan as he scored the only goal of the game this evening, bagging his first-ever one against Juventus. After the game, the Frenchman shared his thoughts on the season.

Milan now have just one game left, taking on Hellas Verona next weekend, and they can head into that one with zero pressure as Champions League was secured tonight. Giroud, as said, was decisive again as he scored a stunning header in the first half.

Speaking to DAZN, as cited by MilanNews, Giroud spoke about qualifying for the Champions League and bagging his 17th goal. He was also asked about Rafael Leao, who is on the verge of renewing his contract.

On qualifying…

“It’s three points and we’re very happy. It wasn’t the best match but it was enough: we scored and managed the match well. The three points were the most important thing.”

On 17 goals…

“I try to stay in good physical condition, and I think I’m in good shape. I have the determination to keep playing. If my body continues, I’ll do all the right things to help this wonderful team.”

On his dream…

“Last year we did very well in the league and not in the Champions League. This year we did well in the Champions League and less well in the league. Next year we want to do well in both competitions.”

On Leao…

“We are happy for him and I hope he stays for ten more years”

Giroud will be at Milan next season as well but the Rossoneri are expected to sign a younger striker this summer. It’s likely that Giroud could be on the bench more next campaign, sharing all of his experience with the new arrival.
