Giroud and Hernandez handed boost in World Cup pursuit amid Brazil exit

By Isak Möller -

Olivier Giroud and Theo Hernandez are currently in Qatar for the World Cup and will face England with France in the quarter-finals tomorrow. While that won’t be an easy match in itself, they ah e been handed extra incentive.

The Milan duo has done very well thus far in the tournament, with Giroud breaking the all-time goalscoring record in the French national team and Hernandez providing two assists. And they want to be victorious in the end.

The country that has been named as one of the key favourites to win the World Cup, Brazil, lost against Croatia on penalties earlier this evening. Their exit is thus a boost for all of the remaining teams in the tournament, including France.

Should they beat England tomorrow, then France will face either Morocco or Portugal in the semi-final. Of course, the remaining teams are all very strong, but the exit of such a good team like Brazil surely has the other ones thinking about their potential path to the trophy.
