Giroud hopes Milan and the fans can ‘celebrate together’ after Fiorentina clash

By Isak Möller -

Ahead of the clash between AC Milan and Fiorentina, now just 20 minutes away, Olivier Giroud spoke to the media. The striker is back from suspension and will play from the first minute tonight.

Giroud scored the winner against Spezia but foolishly took off his shirt afterwards and received a second yellow card. This resulted in a suspension and he thus missed the Cremonese clash, and Milan could’ve needed him in that game.

He’s back this evening, though, and he’s feeling very confident. Speaking to MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, he explained how he has been able to do even better at the start of this season (compared to the last campaign).

On the game…

“We worked well this morning, obviously we got a result against Cremonese that we didn’t want, but now we have the opportunity to win this game at home before the break.”

Is playing at home in front of the fans a boost?

“Yes, of course. In all the games we can count on an incredible Curva Sud and also the whole stadium, together they give us strength. I hope that at the end of the match we can all celebrate together.”

On his form…

“Last year I had Covid and back pain, I wasn’t well for a few weeks in the first part of the season. This year, the manager is giving me great confidence, I’ve played many games and I’m trying to repay that trust. I feel good. That’s why my stats are better than last year,” he concluded.

Napoli are currently eleven points ahead (one more game played) and Milan thus need to come away with all three points this evening. A strong performance is needed and a signal must be sent to their rivals.
