Giroud discusses Milan’s winning run and his future: “Today I’m a Milanista”

By Isak Möller -

After getting on the scoresheet in AC Milan’s 3-0 win over Lecce, Olivier Giroud stopped by the media and shared his thoughts on the performance. Inevitably, he was asked about his future with the Rossoneri.

Giroud has been heavily linked with a move to the MLS side LAFC in recent weeks, with it almost looking like a certainty. At the age of 37, turning 38 in September, it’s certainly a logical next step in his career but Milan are also open to a renewal.

Speaking to DAZN after the game, as cited by MilanNews, the Frenchman shared his thoughts on Milan’s attacking starting eleven this afternoon. He was also asked about the potential move to LAFC, but refused to give anything away.

Fifth consecutive victory in Serie A, is this the best Milan of the season?

“Yes, I believe so. We wanted this fifth victory in a row. We scored two goals in the first half, we were effective. We knew Lecce were doing well, they hadn’t conceded a goal in two games. We created a lot against Fiorentina and we could have scored more goals, today we showed our desire to be more effective in front of goal.”

How fun is it to play with Leao, Pulisic and Chukwueze?

“I know Loftus and Pulisic well, we understand each other well. But the same goes for the others. Today, Adli made a nice assist. Maybe I could have scored another goal. I feel very good, the team is fine mentally and physically. Now important matches await us, we want to be focused on our objectives: second place and at least reach the Europa League final.”

Until June you will enjoy San Siro…

“I don’t want to talk about my future. I see what has been reported in the press, I can say that there is nothing done. Today I’m a Milanista, an old Rossoneri heart. I’m very proud to play for this team. I want to finish in the best way possible, then we’ll see next year.”

Milan will take on Roma next and Giroud will indeed be an important player in that game. He tends to show up in the big ones and the Rossoneri could use a good result in the first leg, starting at San Siro in front of the home fans.

Class on and off the pitch. My favourite Chelsea import forever! What a player for us.
If he leaves, I’ll be extremely sad, but I also would understand.
      Forza Milan
