Giroud reflects on ‘perfect evening’ for Milan: “I’m proud of the team”

By Isak Möller -

Olivier Giroud scored the winner for AC Milan in their 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain this evening. After the game, the Frenchman spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on the crucial three points for the Rossoneri.

Giroud did very well tonight and was heavily involved in Milan’s 1-1 equaliser firing the shot which forced Gigio Donnarumma to leave a rebound. The Frenchman did eventually get on the scoresheet himself, making the most of a Theo Hernandez cross in the second half.

Speaking to Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews, Giroud shared his thoughts on the big win and what it means for Milan in the Champions League. He was also asked about the goal he scored and what he felt.

On the match…

“We wanted to react after the most recent results, tonight was the perfect evening. We created many chances, we were clinical and in these matches, these are things that make the difference. We did everything the coach asked us to do, we didn’t make certain mistakes.”

On the Champions League…

“We know that it’s special for Milan. We wanted to give everything for our fans, who sang from start to finish. I like seeing this Milan, I’m proud of the team. Now we have to continue like this to go to the round of 16.”

On his emotions…

“When I score decisive goals like today I’m proud. Even at 37 I still experience crazy emotions.”

On goals…

“I like scoring goals like this one. Theo made a great cross, I won the duel with Skriniar and I headed it in.”

Milan will face Lecce next and that game is scheduled for 15:00 CET on Saturday. It remains to be seen if Giroud will play from the first minute, having started against both Udinese and PSG.

  1. Giroud was never been a best top scorer. But when he score a goal, it was special / important goals. The real Champion, a winner mentality.
If Charles De Ketelaere has this mentality, he will be our best attacker.
