Milan midfielder Christy Grimshaw recently gave an interview to Milan TV, in which she discussed a number of key topics.

Among the highlights were her comments on working with head coach Maurizio Ganz, the huge upcoming game against Juventus, the strength of having diversity in the current squad and the emotion of playing at a venue like San Siro.

On the current state of Milan: “We are on a winning streak and we’ve only lost one league game and it’s a great place to be, so I think it’s been very successful seven months. Scotland’s home but Italy, you’ve got the weather and we’re not able to really see much [of the country] because of COVID right now but it’s a really beautiful place.

“I think that the facilities and the professionalism and the organization of the women’s first team is one of the best. And I think Europe for pro women’s football, obviously, we do have expectations.

“[With] women’s football, you’re not sure what to expect when before you come places but AC Milan has a very good set up here. I’m enjoying it.”

On the diversity of the team: “We are there’s a lot from different cultures. And obviously when we go on the pitch and on the field, we’re just professionals and we know that we have we all have one ambition in mind, and that’s a common ambition of we have to win games so we forget all the differences and we’re like united on the pitch.”

On Maurizio Ganz: “Mr. Ganz obviously, he wants the best out of us and he’s a very, very passionate guy and he’s played football and he’s an expert on everything, so he really pushes us past our limits. And I really respect that because he loves the game and he makes us love the game also.”

On the team’s diversity: “I think it’s great that we have such a different, diverse midfield. Being a midfielder, on the pitch, we learn from each other. We all bring something a little bit different and we can all learn from each other and we have lots of experience, especially with the new girls just come in as well, and we push each other in training and we all want to fight for our places.”

On the upcoming game against Juventus: “The competition is great. It’s going to be a huge game and we can’t wait to play it. Obviously, they just beat us at San Siro in the game, so we have to get our revenge.

“Basically, we prepare just by focusing on ourselves. I think by not thinking too much ahead but next week, obviously, as we speak, we have a game and next week we have Juve. So we just focus on that. We focus on ourselves and think of how we can take the game to them.”

On playing at the San Siro: “Basically, this is a beautiful and magnificent stadium. Despite the defeat, it’s still an amazing moment for women’s football, for women’s football in Italy and was like historic.

“So it’s a beautiful pitch and the atmosphere was amazing. We want to win something. We want to get Champions League football next season. That’s a must and just have a really successful season and club.”
