Hernandez compares Leao and Mbappe and says Udinese booing was ‘normal’

By Euan Burns -

Theo Hernandez has compared his AC Milan teammate Rafael Leao with Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, whilst also discussing the booing of Milan players after the loss against Udinese.

Speaking after the Champions League victory over PSG to Sport Mediaset (via Milan News), the French defender was asked about the excellent performance of Portuguese winger Leao, which led to Hernandez comparing him with Mbappe.

“Leao is a strong player like Mbappe, we knew that PSG attacked a lot,” he said.

Milan won the game 2-1 after coming from behind, which massively improved their chances of making it out of the group. Hernandez described it as an ‘incredible’ night at San Siro.

“Incredible night, it was a very difficult match and PSG is a great team but we worked well and that’s why the victory came,” he said.

On the chances of qualification, Hernandez said: “Now we have to work well, what they say doesn’t interest us and we remain united.”

Milan badly needed this victory because they had been beaten 1-0 at home by Udinese a few days before, a game that led to a lot of booing from the fans as they were angry with the bad form that the team had slipped into.

Hernandez believes that it’s normal to hear that in those situations: “We went through some difficult moments, it’s normal when Milan don’t win we get the booing. We worked well, now we think about the next one.”

  1. Theo must be talking about physical strength 💪 when it comes to the Leao- Mbappe comparison, because when it comes to as footballers, there is no comparison there.
But I like Theo response on the booing situation. At least he isn’t someone who is delusional and he understands that if the team or a player plays like trash they deserve to be booed or criticized. Something that his left side teammate doesn’t get, since he said that his shushing celebration towards Milan fans was in response to the criticism he was getting and that he does his talking on the field. Imagine saying that after being a*s for almost 2 months for both Milan and Portugal NT. Zero accountability.

    1. Well said. No accountability.. is it so bad that your fans want you to be serious and shine every game? We watched kaka perform and win the balon dor, and I know every Milan fan sees the potential in Rafa and wants same for him. . He is currently his worst enemy

  2. “Leao is a strong player like Mbappe”

He did not say “Leao is as strong as Mbappe”

Neither did he say “Leao is stronger than Mbappe”

    There’s a difference.

    Now in perspective:
“Leao is a strong player like Mbappe, but needs work, dedication and consistency to be at par with Mbappe or even better”
