Hernandez says he wants to stay at Milan and thanks Maldini: “I’m really happy”

Ever since his arrival from Real Madrid, Theo Hernandez has been a key player for AC Milan, quickly cementing his spot on the left-hand side. Being of attacking nature, the Frenchman has bagged six goals this season.

It has certainly been a successful season for Hernandez thus far, at least on an individual level, as Milan have played themselves out of the race for a Champions League spot. However, that hasn’t made the 22-year-old unhappy.

In an interview with Onda Cera, as cited by MilanNews.it, he was asked about his future with the Rossoneri and decided to shut down the exit rumours. This, of course, will please the fans although Milan have no intention of selling their star.

“After the one at Alavés, this is my best season ever. I have to say thanks to Milan and Maldini. It’s never easy to do good for Real Madrid and just as much to emerge or take a place in the club.

“I want to thank Milan because they gave me confidence. Maldini believed in me and here I’m really happy. I’m excited to be at Milan and I have decided to stay with the Rossoneri. I have a four-year contract and here I’m really happy.

“If one day I will return to Real? Now, I’m thinking about Milan because I’m totally happy to be here. I have to continue like this, in the future we will see what will happen. I would also like to play with France,” he stated.

Hernandez was also asked about the impact of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who arrived in January and has since been a great injection. Described as a ‘fantastic and very positive teammate’, one could wonder if parting ways with him is the right call.

“He’s a fantastic and very positive teammate. Ibra is a person who never likes to lose. When we make mistakes, he always loads us up and demands the maximum,” he concluded.
