Inter defender Acerbi admits Milan incident ‘affected me as a person’

By Isak Möller -

Francesco Acerbi ended up in the spotlight at the end of last season as he smiled after Lazio conceded an injury-time winner against his former side AC Milan. The defender, now at Inter, has once again spoken out about the incident.

The incident took place in April earlier this year, during the game between Lazio and Milan at Stadio Olimpico. In the 92nd minute, with the scores at 1-1, Acerbi made a very poor clearance and allowed Ibrahimovic to head the ball onto Tonali.

The midfielder, who also scored the winner last night, made the most of the opportunity and won Milkan the game. Afterwards, in the TV images, Acerbi was seen smiling and he received a lot of criticism from the fans because of it.

Speaking to Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews, Acerbi shared his thoughts on the incident once again and expressed his disappointment. He also stated that it affected him a lot.

“The fans have nothing to do with it. The incident against Milan affected me as a person, what happened was shameful. I was silent, I was always silent but I’m much more of a man than those who pointed the finger at me saying that I did on purpose,” he stated.
