Inter CEO addresses rumours of stadium project with Milan: “There is disorientation”

By Ben Dixon -

The future of the San Siro is currently unknown, with both AC Milan and Inter looking away from the historic stadium. Today, Inter’s CEO Alessandro Antonello offered an update on the future of the stadium projects.

The future of Milan’s home is currently up in the air, as there are currently two options.

Firstly, there is the seemingly preferred option of a new project in San Donato, where the club have recently bought land, and information has continued to be revealed about the club’s plans. Alternatively, there is potential that San Siro could be renovated, but there are issues that come with this.

A project of this magnitude would likely cause both sides who occupy the stadium to play outside of the ground, resulting in a significant loss of revenue. However, Webuild recently expressed their ability to complete the renovations without this issue.

Antonello spoke to Sky about the stadium and the talks between the clubs – his words have been relayed by Calciomercato.com.

The invitation from Mayor Sala…

“The news is that we have been officially summoned by the mayor for Thursday, we imagine that the table will discuss this possibility that has emerged in recent days [the renovation of San Siro] in which we have not been involved.

“There is disorientation on our part because in recent years the path has been very linear and concrete. The idea was to have a joint stadium with AC Milan at San Siro, then the vicissitudes have changed the scenarios and the roads have split,” he stated.

“We will face this meeting with the mayor by listening and trying to understand the options on the table. Today there is this opportunity put on the table by the administration and clearly, we want to evaluate it.”

The Rozzano project…

“The priority for us at the moment is to continue working on the Rozzano project, which is a concrete possibility and we are working with our advisors to reach a conclusion to this assessment with the exclusive period that will end at the end of April.”

  1. Why pay rent of you can built your house, the the rent cost of ypur opersting budget and amortize the cost of new stadium over decades…..plus you have your own an assets that significantly increases the value of your club…

    Please go San Donato….

  2. Renovating the San Siro for the Municipality of Milan, spending 300M, and then continue to pay rent to use it (not even owning it) versus buying, building and owning your own stadium in San Donato for centuries to come. I wonder what we’ll do. LMAO.

You’d be an idiot to choose the former.
