Italian journalist brands Romagnoli-Lazio transfer as ‘very complicated’

By Isak Möller -

Despite the rumours linking him with his boyhood club Lazio, it looks like Alessio Romagnoli will remain at AC Milan for many years to come. Certainly, the Rossoneri can’t afford to lose their captain to a direct rival.

The rumours started last week as Corriere Dello Sport (via Milanlive.it) reported that Lazio dream of signing the 25-year-old. Furthermore, the newspaper stated that the Biancocelesti had already initiated contacts with Mino Raiola over a move.

However, in addition to the Rossoneri wanting to keep him, it would be a difficult move economically. Speaking live on Sky Italia earlier today (via MilanNews.it), Luca Marchetti was asked about the rumours linking Romagnoli to the Rome side.

“Romagnoli-Lazio? No, it would be a very complicated transfer both for the cost of the player and for the salary he would ask for,” he stated.

After all, Lazio’s philosophy has never been to invest big on one player, but rather find low-cost opportunities and develop them at the club. It remains to be seen if they will make an attempt for Romagnoli in the summer.
