Journalist Niccolò Ceccarini has addressed a number of key issues surrounding AC Milan at the moment during an exclusive interview with MilanNews.
He began by talking about the speculation surrounding Ralf Rangnick, describing his arrival as a ‘very concrete hypothesis’, but at the same time the idea of Stefano Pioli remaining as head coach is not definitively closed.
He adds that Paolo Maldini would likely leave should Rangnick arrive as head coach and/or sporting director, however Maldini represents a piece of fundamental piece of Milan history and it is not excluded that they could work together.
On Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ceccarini believes that the Swede will come back very willingly to Milan, however his future with the Rossoneri beyond the summer is in doubt as he arrived under one management and it is likely it will change in the summer.
Ibrahimovic certainly has Milan in his heart, he adds, and if there were a farewell it would be a very painful one, even for him. It will also depend a lot on the resumption of the season and what will happen at the end of the season, but his great desire is to have one more season and guide Milan to the top four.
The issue of Gianluigi Donnarumma is even more delicate: he has a contract expiring in 2021, so Milan must be able to lock him down in order not to lose him on a free transfer. In 2017 Donnarumma made an important choice, demonstrating his great attachment to the club. The offers were certainly not lacking then but he decided to stay, but this time it could be different, with Juventus the most interested club.
Milan are looking for a great midfielder, the journalist continues and they are also considering another central defender to join Alessio Romagnoli.
Juventus and Inter are ahead in the race for Sandro Tonali, but Milan are firmly in the race and the player’s desire will be key. So much will depend on Brescia’s requests, on the player’s will and in the case of Milan on the ability to offer the midfielder an ambitious project.
